Boot Sole Length and purchase reccomendations

Post by lonbordin on Sun Nov 19, 2017 8:57 pm

Hey fellow BOL refugees... Mahalo!

I'm looking for some Boot Sole Length information. I'm combing the Google cached pages, extremecarving forum and elsewhere. Just not coming up with the information I need...

Long story short I wore UPZ's 28-28.5, BSL 312mm with a thin molded iiner (The stock liner was WAY too small) but these were stolen.

My foot/ankle is slightly larger now and the Atomic Backlands I purchased (29/29.5, BSL 318) are just too small. It fits on the left foot but isn't even close on the right.

With BOL MIA I (like everyone else) is in a bit of a pickle.

I need to purchase a pair of boots for this season sight unseen because I live in the middle of nowhere. I have no access to a bootfitter.

My foot is ~287mm but is very large volume/high arch and wide in the forefoot.

So I need BSL charts for the DeeLuxe line. (Is there any other hard snowboard specific boots other than DeeLuxe/UPZ still being manufactured?

Also my purchase options... right now there's-
FB Alpine trading group
This forum
Extremecarving forum
UPZ site
Blue Tomato
Ebay
YYZCanuck
Craigslist

Any others I'm missing?

Thank you in advance!

You pay all that money and you can only pick 4 sizes. I think I'll pass.

Couldn't find a complete Deeluxe chart. What I do know is:

Deeluxe SB 24/24.5 is 269 mm (sole length as printed above the heel on the outside)
Deeluxe SB 25/25.5: 277 mm

This should put the 28 shell at around 300 mm or slightly above, the 29 shell at about 310 mm.

We offer Mondo sizes 23-29.5.
Sorry to hear you think our offer of 14 different sizes in our first season of production "sux"
Does this mean your foot is smaller than USA Mens 4.5 or larger than Mens size 12?
We will be producing smaller sizes next (for younger snowboarders) and if the market is there, we will produce an E-Shell USA Mens 12, 12.5, 13

Sorry I was so harsh. I was in a bad mood when I posted. Congratulations on the project.

It would be more correct to say you offer 4 shells that cover 14 sizes. It would be nice if you put the BSL on the size chart for each shell size.

No problem. Our goal for the project was to keep a similar system to the old Northwave shell system.
Italy uses Mondo system which is why we also use the Mondo system (measurement of your foot length in millimeters)
By BSL, do you mean British foot measurement system?

I think the OP wants to know which external sole length corresponds to a given MP foot size.
I always found it somewhat baffling that a boot that came in only four shell sizes would draw such a following. Even UPZ uses five for the same size range (and a sixth for 30/30.5), and with Deeluxe it's seven, I believe.

Thanks Aracan.

BSL stands for Boot Sole Length. While Mondo Point size is the generic boot size that every boot maker uses, the boot sole length is the literal length from toe to heel of that boot, measured in millimeters. It's entirely possible and very common for boots with the same Mondo Point to have different Boot Sole Lengths. When there are fewer shells across a range BSL is even more important.

bsl is toe ledge to heel ledge of the boot sole regardless of foot size, repeatable across all bindings

The next size up in UPZ are MUCH more spacious. I have a pair a BOL member was interested in, but if he opts out, you're welcome to them.

Thanks Teach! I went with the boots Poloturbo offered. If they don't fit I'll be in touch.
